Connect Claude to IPMusk

Add IPMusk as a custom connector in claude.ai or Claude Desktop. You sign in to IPMusk in your browser, so there is no key to copy.

Who this is for

People who use Claude in the browser (claude.ai) or the Claude Desktop app and want Claude to read their IPMusk account and build proxy URLs.

Using Claude Code in a terminal? See the Claude Code guide instead.

What you need

  • An IPMusk account with a verified email address.
  • A Claude Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise plan. On Team and Enterprise, the organisation admin may need to allow custom connectors first.
  • No API key. You sign in to IPMusk in your browser and choose the permissions there. For typical use tick read and connect. Add support or order only if you want them.

Set it up

  1. 1
    Open Connectors

In claude.ai or Claude Desktop, open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.

  2. 2
    Enter the name and URL

Set the name to IPMusk and the URL to https://ipmusk.com/mcp. Leave OAuth client ID and OAuth client secret empty. Claude registers itself.

  3. 3
    Connect and sign in

Choose Connect. Your browser opens the IPMusk sign-in page. Sign in to your IPMusk account.

  4. 4
    Tick the permissions and approve

Tick read and connect for typical use. Add support or order only if you want them. Then choose Approve.

Plans and menu names change. If you do not see Add custom connector, check Anthropic's current help pages for custom connectors.

Using an API key instead

Some organisations see a Request headers option when they add a custom connector. There you can use an API key instead of signing in.

  1. 1
    Set authentication to No sign-in

Choose the option that skips OAuth, often labelled No sign-in.

  2. 2
    Add the Authorization header

Add a header named Authorization with the value Bearer followed by a space and your key.

Header
URL: https://ipmusk.com/mcp
Authorization: Bearer ipm_live_YOUR_KEY

If your organisation does not have this option, use the OAuth sign-in above.

Check it works

Open a new chat. Turn on the IPMusk connector from the tools menu if it is off.

Ask the assistant: Which IPMusk account am I connected as? It should call get_account and answer with your email address.

Try these prompts

  • How much residential traffic do I have left on IPMusk?
  • Give me a rotating residential proxy URL for Germany.
  • List my Static ISP proxies and when they expire.

If it fails

  • Connect does nothing or shows an error: check the URL is exactly https://ipmusk.com/mcp, with no trailing path.
  • The IPMusk sign-in page says the request is not valid: remove the connector, add it again and leave the OAuth client fields empty.
  • No custom connector option: your plan or organisation does not allow custom connectors. Ask your admin.
  • 403 forbidden on one tool: you did not grant that permission. Disconnect the app in Settings → API keys → Connected AI apps, connect again and tick the permission.
  • 403 capability_unavailable: the customer API is switched off on this deployment. Contact support.

Remove access

  • Go to Settings → API keys → Connected AI apps (/app/settings/api-keys) and choose Disconnect next to the app. It stops working at once.
  • Then remove the IPMusk connector in Claude under Settings → Connectors.
  • If you used an API key in Request headers, revoke that key in Settings → API keys instead.
